While Goldens are well known for the goofy, friendly, easy going personality as a defining trait, keep in mind our mission of continuing the traits of the original bloodline. Some puppies will be loud, boisterous, fearless and troublemakers. We consider these secondary traits though. All of our girls (and the males we select) have the famous switch Goldens are known for. Hard driving, teamwork, and field work motivate them, but they live for and LOVE cuddles on the couch after a good hard day!!

The Puppy's New Home

The decision to bring a golden retriever into your home is one that will have a profound effect on your life. Puppies are adorable but they grow up. Buy a pup because you want great companion and friend. For dog and owner satisfaction our pups should go to active homes. Whichever way you look at it, 60+ lbs. of furry dog can't help but make an impact in your life. They are considered a large breed so make sure you’re ready for the time and commitment needed before taking the plunge. They don’t do well when chained. This is torture to a golden so don’t bother calling unless you have the time, patience and ability to accommodate such a dog. Golden retrievers are bred with brains, beauty, love for people of all ages and a desire to work. So why do we mention all this? Picking a puppy is serious stuff. After all you’re making a decision that will last the next 10-15 years. If you’re looking for a quality purebred golden, don’t go BARGAIN HUNTING. Whether you purchase a puppy from us or not, find a responsible breeder, breeding good dogs with health clearances and usage needs. Remember, they’re an expense, so fall in love with a well-bred puppy. As individual puppy personalities vary, we will try and match the golden to your wants and needs. This can be done best after a few weeks when they are up and going. Please consider the following:

Type of housing

Describe the exercise area (yard / field, etc) that your dog will have access to and what type of fencing it may or may not have.

How many adults in your home?

How many minor children in your home?

Are the any persons in the home with special needs??

How many children under the age of two live in the home?

Is there anyone living within the home that has allergies?

Are ALL adults living in the in the home in agreement to getting a puppy?

Where will the puppy spend most of it's time?

Where will the adult dog spend most of it's time?

Please list the kinds of training you're interested in doing with your puppy/dog. Things like hunting, hunt tests, agility, basic obedience and who will be doing the training whether it is yourself, professional, or classes that you will attend together.

Will your dog primarily be an outside dog or inside?

How many hours will the puppy / dog be alone during the day?

It is our desire that you, your family and your new addition to your family, a puppy from Pine Grove Farm Golden Retrievers have a long, healthy and prosperous life together.

We like to see pups stay with their mom for up to three months, but depending on circumstances, we understand other arrangements may need to be made. Do you have any thoughts on approximately when you would like to pick up the puppy?

How would you arrange for pick up of your puppy? (Just about any situation can be accommodated)

Do you agree to ALL of the following?

All puppies come with a Limited Registration from the AKC unless other arrangements are made. At two years of age after proof of registrations with OFA and genetic testing, with good positive outcomes, I may petition for a full AKC registration and breeding rights. (Paperwork is in place that if anything were to happen to the owners of Pine Grove Farm Golden Retrievers, that all follow on paperwork can be taken care of.) I understand that if my situation changes for any reason and I am no longer able to care for the dog, that I will contact PGF Goldens and work out an equitable solution which may include returning the dog to them to live its life out with them, or be re-homed. I am not a breeder of Golden Doodles, nor will I allow my dog to be used in a Golden Doodle Breeding program. I am not a dog broker acting in anyone else's interests other than my own to obtain a new family member for my family. I understand that if selected as a new parent of a Pine Grove Farm Golden Retriever, that me, and any immediate family members are now part of the Pine Grove Farm Family and as such, are free to contact PGFarms at any time for help or with question. Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from Pine Grove Farm Golden Retrievers, but it does not guarantee puppy availability. While unlikely, the breeder reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time. APPROVAL AND DEPOSIT: Applications are processed in the order they are received. If your home is a "good fit", we'll contact you. We will only accept deposits ($500.00) when puppies are expected or actually available. Approved homes will receive notification for a deposit on a puppy. Please make this deposit within 48 hours of the approval e-mail. If you make a deposit, you are committing to take a puppy from the assigned litter. Should you elect to not take a puppy from the litter, the deposit is forfeited and the deposit applied to the costs of finding the puppy another home. YOUR PICK OF PUPPY: Puppies will be assigned in deposit order, usage need and puppy personality at 7 weeks. We try hard to place the right puppy in the right home. If neither of your choices are available, you may elect another puppy from the litter. Or, we will refund your deposit if we don't have a puppy available. We ask that you make a choice within 24 hours of notification since there may be other families waiting for a chance to choose. Please review both the deposit policies and pick of litter policies on our website for any updates. GOING HOME: We cannot hold puppies for extended times; it is critical for their social development that the litter departs within a reasonable timeframe. If you have a big vacation planned or have events that would conflict with a young puppy, please know puppies cannot be boarded in a kennel until they have received their full immunizations and other vaccinations. REGISTRATION PAPERS: Will be given, upon full payment, AKC LIMITED registration. After the puppy is 2 years old and has passed its health and genetic tests, FULL AKC registration is available.
